a group of guys what turns them on about a woman, and you'll sometimes
get the predictable answers: full lips, full bosom, full booty.

These
are a few quick-and-dirty biological imperatives that will turn many a
man's head. But a lot of women fulfill those requirements already. So
what makes certain women boy magnets, and leaves others spending
Saturday nights watching Saturday Night Live skits?

As always,
men are more complicated than a lot of people give them credit for, and
when it comes to turn-ons, the masculine gender has plenty of surprises
up their metaphorical sleeve. Here, some of the ways to effectively rev
the masculine engine:

1. Standing Tall

Don't get me
wrong: it's not that we want a woman who can balance a beer tray on her
head. It's what good posture says about her. A woman who stands tall
typically a) dresses well, b) exercises often, and c) is confident
about her body and what it's good for. And if she's proud of her figure
no matter what shape or size, that makes men take notice, as well.

2. True Grit

Men
know that women cry. Men know that women can get hurt. Men want to be
there to help whenever they do. But there's something insanely
attractive about women who can bite their lips, buck up, and grit out
some of life's twists, turns, sprains, and pains.

Note: Before
you throw e-daggers my way, I'm not suggesting that it's not OK to cry
or that women shouldn't seek proper attention when they're in pain,
either physically or emotionally. (Nor am I saying that lots of men
don't need to heed this advice as well.) I'm simply saying we're often
drawn to partners who can walk off life's minor insults.

3. Baseball Caps

When
we were growing up, we used them to show our team allegiances. In
college, we used them to hide bed head. Past the age of 30, we mainly
wear them to cover our bald spots. But no matter what team we root for,
we like a baseball cap the most when it's worn by a woman. The look
sends all kinds of messages about the kind of woman she is: sporty,
strong, comfortable kicking back, Sox fan. (All the better if it's a
Cubs hat - she's an optimist with a great sense of humor.)

4. Software Savvy

Maybe
it's a giant sexual metaphor, but women like men who know hardware, and
men like women who know software. Show a guy a woman who knows her way
around systems, networks, and connections, and he'll be dazzled by her
smarts - and appreciate her talents.

There's something sexy
about a woman who can click a few buttons and get something working
exactly the way she wants it to. (That is, as long as the buttons she
pushes aren't his.)

5. Sexy Shampoo

Men typically are
stereotyped as needing visual cues to feel attraction. While it's true
that men need their share of eye candy, they also are mightily turned
on by the olfactory sweets, as well. Perfume and body lotion are nice
and all, but the smell of her freshly washed hair that's nestled up
under the chin on a Sunday morning is a reminder of all that's good
about relationships.

6. Understated Underwear

Slinky and
small lingerie works for anniversaries, birthday surprises, honeymoons,
and other seduce-me moments. But the look that makes men feel both
comfortable and excited is when she's wearing boxers (waistband rolled)
and a thin-as-can-be T-shirt that's neither too tight nor too big. Call
it supreme sexiness in the understated. The same effect can be achieved
by wearing his old dress shirt and a pair of panties.

7. Dirt and Sweat

Of
course, men like to see their women dolled up for a night out. But many
men appreciate the exact opposite: The woman who hikes, bikes, mows the
lawn, hacks trees and branches, and otherwise pulls her weight. Seeing
the dirt, mud, sweat, and occasional road rash is something that stokes
our primal side.

8. A Few "Duh" Moments

Men like smart
women (see "software savvy," above). But there's a small part of a
man's brain that wants her to have an occasional dollop of ditziness.
Why? Because if she can show that she may not know everything, it
reinforces something deep inside a man that he's needed, that he's
trusted, that he can be there to help.

And it says that when we
screw up on occasion (and we will, oh yes, we will), she'll understand.
Hypercompetence is something we just can't compete with. And
ultimately, this game isn't about competition, it's about crossing the
finish line together.

- Lien Ket is still on. It is still a logistical nightmare but it is on and there will be a camp for the kids.

- family: life is still ok. Day by day, past the 49 days so it's one step closer.

lots of other stuff going on, but I will leave it at that for now.

bumpy roads

So it has been some time since i really updated my xanga and i really don't know if anyone reads this anymore so i guess it's safe to vent here for a bit.

I guess i can say that the past few months have been pretty rocky/up and down. as is life. i guess i can start fro the beginning, or the most recent episodes in my life.

met a great girl, but it ended... i will leave it at that

my grandmother passed away.

let's just say family life isn't all that great right now.

i had to withdraw my application to law enforcement and civic service because of the people i associated with when i was 15 years old, and with that i was pretty bummed out about. so another long term goal/dream/ideal is now gone.

scouts is crazy as usual but with the bombshell that i might have to cancel lien ket, something that i literaly have been busting my ass off for quite some time now, really hurts me deep inside because i tried my best to accomidate everyone and make it work for the kids. in other words, i had a huge task and i feel like i failed all the scouters and i failed all those who came to me to the task. i couldn't deliver and it stings like hell.

I know that life is full of up and downs, and i know i will get over these things, some which i already have, but some are still so fresh, it leaves me wounded inside. I know these are negative aspects and i could am seeming petty to complain. but i think i need to let this out since i have held so much in for the longest time. I don't know right now. I feel like I am trying so hard and doing my best, but it doesn't seem to be enough anymore. last night, I realized that when I took the accountability for it, people were so easy to say it was ok, and not my fault, but deep down i know it was. that is the thing i have learned.

I hate failure. and i know that i am learning frm these things, but with greater risks come greater consequences. hopefully this mess that i am in will pan out and that something will work out for me for once, because i am starting to tire for trying to make everything work.

New Challenges

Within the last year I have been writing a lot of different musings and such and had come to a point what is the next step in my life. So aside from training for triathlons and races, I am starting my applciation process for Orange County Sheriff and California Department of corrections (and probably LA Fire), so I will be training even harder to meet my basic fitness tests for these institutions:

ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF
PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST
The physical agility test consists of five elements, which are timed and scored. All applicants must be dressed in Physical Training gear.
Obstacle Course: 3 foot high saw horse, wooden barricades, 6-foot high wooden fence, balance beam, 4-foot high hurdles, push-ups, window and hall simulation run, and 50-yard sprint.
Dummy Drag: Drag a 165 pound dummy 45 feet on the ground.
30 sit-ups, 30 push ups within 5 minutes: Within a 5 minute period, complete 30 sit-ups and 30 push ups.
One mile run:	Run 1 mile on a flat surface within 10 minutes.
Trigger pull (Pass/Fail): Pull a trigger of a semi-automatic weapon six times with each hand.

CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS
Physical Abilities Test (PAT) (Pass/Fail)
The purpose of the various PAT tests utilizing a stationary bike and exercise equipment are to determine the applicant’s ability to sprint 100 yards in no more than 19 seconds, to complete a 500-yard run in two minutes and twenty seconds, to determine the candidate’s ability to drag an unconscious person weighing approximately 165 pounds 20 feet in 20 seconds or less after running 500 yards and to pick up and carry a stretcher containing a person weighing approximately 185 pounds, with the assistance of one other person.

LA FIRE
The CPAT is a timed pass/fail test that consists of eight separate events:

Stair Climb
Hose Drag
Equipment Carry
Ladder Raise & Extension
Forcible Entry
Search
Rescue
Ceiling Breach & Pull
During the CPAT, you must progress along a predetermined path from one event to the next in a continuous manner. Participants wear a 50-pound (22.68-kg) vest to simulate the weight of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and firefighter protective clothing. An additional 25 pounds (11.34 kg), using two 12.5-pound (5.67-kg) weights that simulate a high-rise pack (hose bundle), is added to your shoulders for the stair climb event. You have 10 minutes and 20seconds to complete all eight tasks. It is your responsibility to schedule and pay for your own CPAT.

I guess I am looking for a purpose of what I am to do, a meaning, and I think i finally found it.

Wednesday, July 11, 2007

poor puppies

i'm kinda bummed...

i was running with lap, will and diana and we saw two puppies running in the street, and unfortunately, the drivers on the road paid no attention to them and hit the poor puppies and they just kept going... didn't even stop... when will people learn...
Ba Ngoai

Rest in Peace Ba Ngoai.

May you be free of the pain that you had and are in a better place.
Redondo Beach triathlon

Coming out of the bloody cold water

Taking the road like no other

they said there was a hill... what hill?

one step after another

can't stop... won't stop...

pushing to the very end

sacrifice, blood, sweat, tears, dedication... all the way to the end!

will i do it again?

hell yeah!

next up:
long beach triathlon! 09.23.07!
